David Hibbitts

David Hibbitts is the Rising Star Moreno Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida. His research interests include the determination of reaction mechanisms and structure-function relationships for the conversion of biomass- and fossil-derived feedstocks into fuels and chemicals through heterogeneous catalysts. His research group combines experimental kinetic and isotopic studies on well-defined catalysts with state-of-the-art computational catalysis techniques including density functional theory, kinetic Monte Carlo simulations, and machine learning algorithms. He has received the ACS PRF New Doctoral Investigator and NSF CAREER awards.
